RESOLVED ISSUES

Here is a list of problems in the area that have been resolved, thanks to NES-Watch neighbors, Alderman Timm, and the Rockford Police Department.

2004 Huffman - Known Gang House where there have been shootings.  The police are working with the owner to resolve the issues. 4-12-2009 The house has been rented out to upstanding citizens. 5-2-2009

1501-1503 N. Court - Actually a resolved issue now. The building has been condemned as of June 30, 2008. It will be closed until October 2008. The building is up for sale and has a possible prospective buyer that is being checked out. Hopefully, as an abandoned building it does not attract a bad element. June 2009 building has been sold to new owners who were screened by the police department. It will be rented soon.

PROSTITUTES SPOTTED ON AUBURN AND RIDGE AREA - If you see a prostitute soliciting, call the police.  We need to let them know they are not wanted here.  Alderman Timm was informed and said it is being addressed. 5-27-08 Sgt. Welsh reported that the police are working on some problem buildings on Auburn. Hopefully the prostitutes will be gone once those buildings are taken care of. August 26, 2008: A prostitute is still working the NES area. Officer Matt Kranz believes she may be from the building on Auburn St that was shut down, 2206 Auburn St. August 26, 2008: Please keep an eye out for a prostitute wanted as a witness to a crime. Name Jodi. No prositutes are currently working this area.

THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF TIRE SLASHINGS IN NES. ONE OF OUR NEIGHBORS MAY HAVE A SUSPECT AND HAS CONTACTED SGT WELSH. There was not enough evidence to go on. Everyone keep your eye out for suspicious activity! August 2008.  This issue has seemed to resolved itself. June - 2009

The plate number of the Mike and Ike Car (a car of interest to the police) was reported anonymously to NES-Watch. NES-Watch forwarded the information to the police.

ARRESTED: Dave Chappell of 1611 Latham for growing 50 cannabis plants in the home.

1816 PRICE  - SUSPECTED DRUG HOUSE
No arrests were made after gun shots were fired early Monday morning November 5, 2007. Narcotics is now aware this is a drug house and they are working on getting it shut down. NES-Watch has written a letter to the Landlord. The City is now involved and has contacted the Landlord. Soon our neighbors on Price will have peace.
NES-Watch has heard from Matt Gibbons our CSO who said that Narcotics has ceased to pursue taking any action.  I have contacted the landlord and he was not aware of any gunfire or drug dealing. He lives in Indiana.  He promised me he would start eviction immediately. We will keep you informed. 1-29-2008 - Unfortunately there was lots of misinformation. The City is not involved. Any reports of eviction were premature.  Sgt Welsh contacted the landlord and explained to him that there was no gunfire at his property.  And the spent shell casings were found at 1804 Price and 1804 Huffman, not 1816 Price as previously reported.  Sgt Welsh told the landlord that there was no evidence for eviction.  The landlord is not evicting.   Our neighbors are still suffering the traffic of the many cars going in and out of the property.  NES-Watch will have to get more creative. Since contacting the landlord the activity is down to next to  nothing. We will continue to watch. 3-6-2008 neighbors report that the tenants are staying there only part time. APRIL 27, 2008 EVERYTHING IS QUIET THERE NOW. December 2008, the tenants have moved out

2007 AUBURN - PIT BULLS ALLOWED TO RUN WITH NO LEASH
Also suspected dog fight training with firecrackers going off to scare the dogs. The owners were informed of Rockford's leash law. Animal control has been called numerous times. Police were called about the firecrackers. NES-Watch has written to the Landlord and will be writing again shortly.
Animal control has been over there and has warned them. It has been a month and the dogs are not running loose any more. As of 2-27-2008 the pitbulls are occasionally running loose.  Animal control gave the woman who owns them a final warning.  The next step will be going to court. 3-14-2008 NES-Watch spoke to the owner of the pitbulls once again about them running loose. She cleaned up the dog's messes and said that animal control told her to keep them on a lease. She still is not. We will need to pursue the matter further. Other neighbors have complained. She is keeping them on a leash now. There is power in numbers. July 2008, the tenants have moved out.

AUBURN AND BRUNER AREA - STALKER/PROWLER/TRESPASSER
A man has been spotted numerous times in the past year and a half stalking, prowling and trespassing on a property in the Auburn Bruner area. The police were called numerous times. Rockford Police Chief Epperson was notified. The police detained the man, catching him as he was running down the driveway last winter.  He is still stalking, prowling and trespassing.  We have information on who this man is.  The Community Officer was notified.  We are waiting for a response/action from him.
3-8-2008 He was spotted once again on the property. NES-Watch is having a meeting with Sgt. Welsh and Deputy Chief Booker 3-19-2008 and will bring this matter up. 3-19-2008 The affected neighbors will be signing a no trespass agreement and will put police issued no trespass signs on their property.  If the stalker/trespasser comes on to their property he can be arrested. MATT GIBBONS OUR CSO HAS SPOKEN TO HIM AND BROUGHT THE NEIGHBORS 'NO TRESPASSING SIGNS'. IF THE TRESPASSER GOES ONTO THEIR PROPERTY HE WILL BE ARRESTED. THANK YOU MATT!  THE STALKER TRESPASSER CAME ON THE PROPERTIES AFTER BEING WARNED NOT TO.  4-23-08 THE STALKER/TRESPASSER HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND GIVEN A NO CONTACT ORDER. October 2008, went to court and stalker/trespasser pled out before 9:00am. Has not been around

2008 AUBURN - KNOWN DRUG HOUSE
The DEA has made a drug arrest. The dealer is now out on bail and still dealing out of there. The landlord has been notified and the dealer is being evicted. We can only hope that our court system processes this eviction quickly.
NES-Watch had written to the landlord whose name the police supplied. NES-Watch heard back from him and he does not own the property. There is a mix up of the Tax ID numbers. We will pursue the quest to find him and contact him. NES-Watch called the Assessors Office and found the name and address of the owner of the property and will write to the landlord giving her the County site to use when checking criminal backgrounds. APRIL 3, 2008 - THE DRUG DEALER HAS MOVED!

2309 Auburn St - Drug House Arrests
